Both the signal box and the passing loop have gone now, swept away in modernisation that sees the entire line controlled by radio from Machynlleth. But back in the 1980s this was still a traditional block post, where the trains would stop to pick up the token for the next section and drop off doughnuts and Coca Cola for the signalman.
