This is one of the engineered log jams that were completed in October, 2008 during the peak of the first large freshet. See the Quinault Rehab Project tag for related photos.
In spite of this being sort of a 'documentary' shot, Larry, it has a nice atmosphere and quality about it, with the misted layers. Wonderful subtle coloring, too. This must be a huge project! Greetings from alicia
You are correct that this is a "documentary" shot. I am documenting the work on this pilot project to help reestablish the natural conditions of this portion of the river.
While I could have focused all the attention on the engineered log jam, I decided to show some of the background through the heavy rain that was falling at the time. The last of the yellow on the leaves and different layers of forest and 'hills' stood out in the rain and clouds, so it help set the location.
I took many photo of the project this day, but only posted a few of them. By the time I headed back to the office I was totally soaked.
Best regards, Larry
