The remains of Drawbridge 1 on the Tunnel 1 system showing the pit below and the steep flight of steps leading to the surface of the North Center Bastion.
The drawbridge is in a slightly raised position but will sink to the stops embedded in the pit wall.
Light can be seen at the top of the stairway but the steps themselves are in total darkness.
The locations of the counterweights which used to operate the drawbridge are shown in this Tunnel 1 image.
