Wild tulips on Tananger Coast on a misty morning

A very lovely picture and a beautiful tulp,Amelia. We have many,many tulips in Holland but this kind of tulps a never saw bevor, gratulations with this picture!! I have also TULIPS.

Thank you Jac for your lovely comment. I have seen the tulips for real in Holland, they are spectacular. This one is a species tulip, and I have been informed by one of your fellow countrymen erik [see above] that it is probably T.clusiana. Who am I to argue with that! It's a bit late now, but I shall definitely visit your tulips another time.

Hazel - you have really been searching through to find this one. Adrian and I were out walking on this misty morning and there were these beautiful tulips ... such a wonderful surprise to see them growing wild. I must check if they are there again this year.

Dear Janina, without your comment I would have ignored the replies to Peter and Hazel. The tulips are very simple flowers, but it was amazing where they were growing. Normally they are found in gardens, but these seemed to have found their freedom onto the cliffs by the sea. This is one of my earlier photos, but I still love it.

Amelia "your" tulips look differently ... if I compare f.e. with these flowers... sharp triangular leafs are unusual for me

... I thought first about an art-work . I've got such "bouquet" of wooden flowers years ago)... They are really wild and beautiful...

They are species tulips, and with the help of Erik, we think they are T.clusiana. The petals are more pointed than many of the cultivated varieties which people have in their gardens, so they look quite different from the ones in your link.
