The return of Persephone

Και να!

Αλλά και ο υπουργός, απλά το καταδίκασε......Today, anyone who saw, in the television news station SKAI, images of torturing an elephant in a circus in our country, should feel ashamed....... But the minister, simply condemned...................Let us put an end to the suffering of the circus animals and set them free. ….Circus elephants

Flying horse

Pegasus was named thus, because he was born near the springs of the Ocean. He sprang up from the body of his mother Medusa together with Chrysaora, when Perseus had cut her head off, without having been turned into a stone, as he was only seeing her image, looking her reflection through his shield. As soon as Pegasus came out of Medusa’s body he was ridden by Perseus, who wanted to reach Ethiopia in order to save the beautiful Andromeda (the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia) from the dragon’s teeth. Afterwards Perseus set Pegasus free and he settled on mountain Olympus, where according to Hesiod he carried the thunderbolts from Hephaestus workshop to Zeus. Later goddess Athena had offered him to the Muses and since then Pegasus had been living together with them on mount Helicon. Because Pegasus was related to the Muses and Apollo, he was considered as a symbol of poetic inspiration. Pegasus the horse of thunder, having been portrayed to come out of the clouds, when he beat the soil with his hooves water was spouting. Thus the spring of Peirini was created in Acrocorinth and those of Aganippi and Ippokrini in Helicon. Vellerofontis tamed Pegasus when he was drinking water in Peirini fountain with the help of Athena. Vellerofontis riding Pegasus had killed the Chimera. Following the adventures of Vellerofonti the Pegasus crossed the skies and came back to Olympus. Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, was the main type of the Corintian coins, which which were called «colts».

"You must understand what the Parthenon Marbles mean to us. They are our pride. They are our sacrifices. They are our noblest symbol of excellence. They are a tribute to the democratic philosophy. They are our aspirations and our name. They are the essence of Greekness." Melina Mercouri
