Garfield’s Tea House Long Branch NJ President Garfield was mortally wounded at the Washington, D.C. train station on the way to catch a train to Long Branch N.J,. A railroad spur was built to transport the President from the Long Branch train station to his cottage, after his death the spur was removed and the ties were incorporated into this building.
