An aircraft approaching Dublin Airport flashes it's navigation lights above the crescent moon, Jupiter, and Venus. December 1st 2008.

Hey Gerry,
Congratulation on capturing the moon and planets in such an interesting setting. Our weather was overcast so I missed seeing it. I saw it tonight, through broken clouds, but the moon was far above the planets.
Best regards, Larry

Thanks Larry. Dustbin (trash can) served as a tripod! I checked you out and assumed you had cloud. Unusually cold weather here with clear skies!

Hey Gerry. Great capture. The plane certainly adds a twist of dynamics to the shot. I caught a couple the same night but haven't had time to get them off my CF card yet. Will maybe post one if good enough. No lights or planes but I did have a few clouds hanging about. :)
All the best, Tom

Hi Gerry nice capture: I drove back from Belfast that evening watching this in the sky (no camera of course)and hoping it would be there when I got home. It was but the Mourne Mountains were in the way :-)
The aircraft here just makes it more surreal. Excellent...
Best Regards,
Séan.

Wow, Gerry - great capture of the conjunction! Yours is the first I've seen on the site with the moon just about between Venus and Jupiter. I hadn't realized the moon actually occulted Venus. By the time it got to the States, it was a giant V formed by the three.
If you're interested in comparing the different views as the moon moved along its course, there's a tag 'MVJ' with a bunch of different shots. This would be a great addition to it (along with any other shots anyone else might have.)
And I love the plane going through it! Cheers!
