Dien Bien resembles fighting in the Pacific during WW II where U. S. Marines dug the Japs out of their bunkers face to face. However, unlike the Japs that fought for a corrupt emporer, the Liberation army fought for itself, to rid its land of the French Fascists. This is what Dien Bien is all about, and you can feel that in the air as you walk its streets and climb down into bunkers that cost the Liberation army dearly.
