Norman Cross was the location of a huge prisoner of war camp during the Napoleonic Wars (the population of the camp actually exceeded that of nearby Peterborough at the time). This was the prison governor's house and is now the home of the owner of the adjacent Norman Cross Art Gallery (well worth a visit).
