I had not realised just how specialised this little work-horses are. Their construction is immensely strong, especially in the horizontal ribs. The toothed stem permitting good contact with the raft.

They are well ballasted to give the vessel good stability too.

I have very much enjoyed your excellent photos of British Columbia. They illustrate perfectly the extent of the timber trade and all those whose lives depend on the rivers and waterways in this region.

You have a fascinating gallery..Thanks for sharing these unique images!
