Nice picture men. Amazing landscape. You live there?
Thanks! No, unfortunately I don't live there... anymore. But I used to live there. And I'm longing to live there again.
No words can describe the vibes this picture gives to me.
It's stunning. Could you please tell me in which period of the year you shoot this picture?
Hi maralf. This picture is probably taken in February, maybe early March. We get this beautiful intense blue light when the sun returns after the arctic night. At this latitude the sun never rises above the horizon for almost 4 months during the winter, and we are left with only moon light and the blazing auroras. The in February the sunlight returns in the form of this very faint blue light, but it becomes very intense since it’s reflected in the white snowcovered landscape. As the sun rises day by day we also get the other colours of the sunset, but there is still a “blue hour” at the end of each day, when everything is very peaceful. But by the end of March the blue light is gone, and by the 20th of April the midnight sun has risen and never sets for the next four months. So it’s quite a transition, from no sun at all, to having the sun up 24 hours in just about 2 months. The midnight-sun-light is also very nice, but not as magical as the blue winter-night light.
Cold picture :P
