Whenever I am at this spot, I am scared to pieces that I am going fall into the bowl...
Magic it is!

Its a perfect natural setting for photographers, much like an arena seeting with the arch center stage. and yes traversing the bowl is an experience of its own.

Hello, Caleb. I like your shot. I took a couple of the gathering myself, just for my own humor of showing how folks gather here. Funny thing is, I was right above you that day while you were taking this shot. I remember seeing you folks perched on your precarious ledges, and thinking that you were far too willing to die for your art. ; ) I remember one particular Asian gentleman who I played path tag with on the way up being on that ledge.

Seems you were! I know a few people in this photograph. I agree it is difficult to take a new photo in a place like this, which makes excellent practice.

ahhh, but it seems that only One captured the elusive mysterious presence that evening....
what a great shot, Caleb! certainly one not many others have posted of the location. But so funny - for so long we've all pictured not1word there, a man alone in the wild, with his offering to the gods, and the one couple who appeared with a flashlight.

Your range of tones is great, going from the bright orange on the left to that deeper brown to black on the right.

Thanks for the link Kam, I now know two things about spam. This picture was taken on a whirlwind trip across SO.UT catching many of the more accessible sights, I have not really gone through most of the photos and now im hiding from the cold in New Orleans. Hows winter in New England? Sure would like to get up that way this spring.

Well, Caleb, one look at my solstice shot and you'll be very glad to be back in the south!
and I'm starting to wonder: perhaps that crowd was there to witness the sky show rising over the SPAM pouch, and only coincidentally the arch was there!
This really is such a cool shot!
