What power pushing these water that high and somebody is cooking his dinner up there ?! Very good photograph ! Congratulation John !
Hi John Maybe the sun shine through the broken window, on the top floore... I can see from other pics, this lighthouse is abandoned !
Great photo ! Regards from Budapest,
Thank you Zsuzsanna,
but your wrong the lighthouse is still operational and an aid to navigation to the port of Sunderland.
Well, if that so, somebody maybe cooking the supper up there...Cheers John, excellent photography !
Lol Zsuzsanna, yeah the light and foghorn are all automated from the shore these days but a few years ago the keeper had to get out to lighthouse in these conditions through a gas lit half mile tunnel that runs all the way along the inside of the pier , but as you can see it needs quite a lot of maintenance, I actually used to work on it many years ago, it was first opened in 1903 so its withstood the test of time and the harsh seas that has been thrown at it.
I enjoy your nice comment John, it is interesting to know, you have personal connection to it and at these bad weather conditions had to go there to put the gas lit on and walk in the tunnel... It must be remarkable constracture which resist to the powerful pressures of storms ! I appreciate your explanation. It deserves a good maintenance... Thanks a lot !!!
we must to call it " the rage of the nature "....it shows the power in the sea...and the weakness of the human....ver beatiful...voted..
