Bryce Canyon National Park transcends 2000 feet (650 m) of elevation, the park exists in three distinct climatic zones: spruce/fir forest, Ponderosa Pine forest, and Pinyon Pine/juniper forest. Bryce has over 100 species of birds, dozens of mammals, and more than a thousand plant species.

Bryce's spires are called "Hoodoos". They are formed when ice and rainwater wear away the weak limestone.

ryanhk3,

Greetings from Ohio. Thanks for visiting! Bryce is one of my favorite national parks. Have you been to Zion?

Yes, I was there back in December 1997. Your photos inspired me to upload some of my own photos of the Bryce Canyon. The daylight, the red rocks and the snow created a magnificent show of colours. Therefore I said I love this place. And, funny enough not many people know about this magnificent place. Personally, I like it more than the popular Grand Canyon.
