Thanks nighttraveler. The most amazing thing was that the thunder wasn't very loud that night for some reason. It made it quite eerie.

SouthernCelt - yup. Taken from our apartment balcony during a "grown-up-gap-year" in Sydney. Crikey, but I miss it...

Shame I can't find a way to edit the location text - it just comes from GoogleMaps, and their mapping data must be a bit out. If I remember rightly, Waverton was directly north of our place, on the other side of the harbour...

To the anonymous user who confidently posted this reposition suggestion:
"This part of the city is not visible from the shown location. It should be on the other side of the Darling Street Wharf - in Iloura Reserve. Good photo, though."
Um...with respect...I know where my apartment was, as I lived in it for a year. The photo was taken from the balcony one night.
I know it's dark, but the bend in the waterfront that you can see is between Brett Ave and Lookes Ave, with Darling St wharf just beyond.
I'm very careful with the positioning of all my photos, down to the actual GPS location in the case of some of those taken in the Scottish mountains. Some of the labels applied, in this case "in Sydney, New South Wales (Australia)" aren't as accurate as I would like, but there is nothing I can do about those.
Thanks anyway.

People keep suggesting alternative locations for this photo. Please, trust me, the location is correct. We lived in the flat for a year and I know where it was taken from.
