This was my grandparents' house and I spent lots of time here It was quite a land mark, set on a ridge and visible for miles. In the 80's it was painted brown but is now restored. The garden stretched to the fields to the north and there were outhouses and garages. Next door was Handley's farm, where Springfield Lodge is now. There was a little garden to the rear with a goat. Samples the butchers was across the road and Tip Wise would walk down the quiet street shouting "How! Winney!" to my mum.
