Beautiful place. I hope you liked Denmark.

Greetings from Denmark, Allan LichtenHansen.

Olga I. Yakovenko on February 28, 2009

Оля, большое спасибо!

Alan, I have appreciated much Denmark, its nature, people and manner of life. I find all of a very high level. Moreover, all people speak English, and there is no problem to ask them. But the only prolbem was with Dannish language: what you hear and what is written are very different thins. Olga

LichtenHansen on February 28, 2009

Hi Olga,

What do you mean by: "But the only prolbem was with Dannish language: what you hear and what is written are very different thins."?

Olga I. Yakovenko on February 28, 2009

I mean, for example, you see a world of good 10 letters, and you here only 5-6 and somthing other, that it is written.

More closely and not so dramatic: Roskilde is written , but they say Roskille. If there is g or r at some last positions, it changes the pronounciation, and you hear something else, but not g and r, and near leeters sounds also by other way. Fortunately, the transport is so well organized, that it is possible to follow the way having a map and looking at the insriptions, Olga

LichtenHansen on February 28, 2009

Oh yes, the danish language is not easy.

Olga I. Yakovenko on February 28, 2009

Alan, Sure, the problem lies in the knowledge, If I know the language, these problems are not seen. We laugh always with French: Jacques - 7 letters and 3 sounds. In Russian it is written Жак - 3 letters, as many as sounds. In English, for ex., daughter - 8 letters and 4 sounds, in Russian it shoud be written доте... With Russian language this problem doesn't exist, our alphabet was made for the very close old language, and each sound had its letter (the same was with Greek and Latin, where the alphabeth were made according to sounds). In Russian the grammer is awful. Olga
