Wow, really atmospherically shoot. You take this photo from the star ferry?

Hi Congee / Gunnar
Thanks for kind comments...
Shot taken from under the elevated viewing deck (near clock tower) Kowloon side...
It was raining like we'd never seen! It was almost movie like, with sun breaking, through silhouhetting buildings... about 5 mins before, everything was hidden by very low cloud!
Will take look at your (extensive) albums soon..
Regards
Huw (Manchester, UK)

Thanks... full credit to Mother Nature! It was a great morning... very atmospheric and VERY WET! Felt sorry for guys in bay in the tiny junk (three quarters to right on the waterline). Regards. Huw, Manchester, UK

Cracking set of shots here Huw. :-)
We're going to HK next week for a couple of days. Any tips for good shots on a limited time scale?

Hi m1ke_a... (thanks for comments)
Few ideas for you... The Peak is an obvious one, but viewing decks get crowded (and some areas 'ban' tripods) - take a walk down Luggard Road (come out of Peak Tram building at top, turn right, small road / path almost immediately past Peak Tram building). A few 100 / 500 metres down there will see some great day (and night spots - as per my shots). You'll also meet some nice 'in-the-know' photographers... (certainly at night)
Kowloon side, near Clock Tower another good vantage point (where I took above).
Some of the elevated walkways good for long exposure nights shots too... (near IFC 1 and 2).
The 'elevators' on Central interesting too...
Most of the taller tower blocks have viewing decks (free access - eg Central Plaza - deck on 30 something floor - nice!) Check IFC's for such...
Inside of HSBC Bank, Central also good - just ask guards inside (usually no problem, provided you shot away from cash areas / tellers)
Markets at Central interesting too... Fish etc
Nathan Road, Kowloon side for the 'iconic' shop signs at night...
Star Ferries - great vantage points of Causeway Bay
Take a boat to Rainbow Fish restaurant, Lamma Island (from Kowloon or Central) - nice views coming back at night (o=if it's clear and dry!)
And, if you are tempted to buy photo gear, trust CitiCall (few around HK - genuine gear and a good price! Bought lots of gear from them)
Hope that helps / have a great time - and show us all your best shots on return!
Regards, Huw

Hi Wan... Apologies for late response... Don't travel that often, which is why I shot lots (and lots) when I do... Malaysia is on the 'To Do' list though! Regards, Huw

Hi Pogromca_kiszek... yes, there was an 'air' of potential thunder etc... Luckily (for me and camera), we were sheltered under the concrete viewing deck, so shielded from the impressive rainstorm... Regards Huw

Thanks Christoph... Pails into insignificance when I've seen what you are upto! Hope you get some sponsorship from Canon etc, as your trip will be a good test for sensor!
Suggest everyone looks at this guys website!
Quick question... Are the photos (long shots) of where you are heading or have come from?
Best Regards, Huw

Hey Huw, I'm happy you like the site! The question is about the direction of the shots, right? That's a good question indeed, I originally thought about whether I should only shoot what's in front of me - but then I decided to shoot whatever way seems to look good. So that's how it is now, the shots have no particular direction! Anyways, this particular picture YOU took here in Hong Kong is really nice. But I already said that. Cheers from 渭南! ---chris---
