This is the ruins of Feniscowles Hall, owned by the wealthy Fielden family. It was here that the author of the world famous book that William Woodruff wrote 'The Road To Nab End' called as a 13 year old hoping to get a job as a gardeners assistant, Lady Fielden asked William what church his family attended, he replied 'they don't go to church' he didn't get the job, he later found out that Lady Fielden did not want a heathen touch her flowers.
