It is amazing to see such wonderful variety of topography but I am rather confused by why I have never seen them before. Not in any pictures of any magazines, on an travel show of any kind. What is the history for these structures?

Yeah, these are unique, there have been some coverage of them before but not much. There are many theories about how they were formed, but most revolve around it being an ancient sea bed being covered by sand and over time the wind moves the sand to expose the chalk.
