Clear Lake from 747 LHR to SFO (ID Thanks to Dr. Buck!)

This is not a photo of Eagle Lake California. I am a pilot and have seen and photographed it from the air many times.

John, unfortunately I have no idea which lake it is. It clearly has a city or town on what appears to be the south shoreline. I have flown all over the western states and I do not recognize it. Were you looking out the starboard window? Doc

Hi Doc, yes we were on the starboard side. It's become a habit, starting with our first trip to London together... you can see the Golden Gate Bridge after departure... I'll try to find the time to do a little more research. Maybe caculate a great circle route, though that might be a little ambitious. Spare time is precious these days.

Hi John, There are great circle calculators on line, but I haven't found one yet that will show enough detail to the route. I will work on it!!
