Lovely Lane Methodist Church is considered by some to be the mother church of Methodism in the United States. Designed by Stanford White of the firm of McKim Mead and White, the church was build around 1887. The tower design is said to be based on that of the campanile of the church of Santa Maria in the Abbey of Pomposa, Italy.
