Absolutely great! Beautiful dark siluets and last shine far away.
Thank you Eva, for I am especially pleased with this photo. I too, love the black cross-section and the rolls of ranges into the distance, but it is the mystery of the distant wilderness valleys that is enhanced by the darkness in the foreground and the far illumination. And I love the wild sky for it subdues the wilderness below.
Here is another landscape waiting for you to explore.
Layer upon layer of beauty Ian. From black to brown to olive green, then misty blue ridges, then right up to the skies above. The contrasts are superb, a gradual change from absolute solidity to air.
I am very pleased that you have reviewed this image, Amelia. I too was impressed by the way light in the crystal clear air illuminated this wilderness landscape. So I am glad the photo works for you.
Thank you Paul. And I wish you a wonderful Christmas, too, in the midst of all that flurry white stuff, around a warm fire, and trust that 2009 is very fulfilling for you and all your family.
We will soon be sitting down to Christmas 'left-overs', as wonderful and as special as they are. Yes we have celebrated Christmas and been surrounded by family and more, and now in the gentleness of a warm Christmas evening we will soon eat another meal, and plan our explorations for tomorrow.
And a tripod did arrive today! Thanks Santa.
yes, been there, made photo's, but not as good as this one............ Geerten
This required a deliberate drive up from Sydney at the end of a day, for I could predict that the weather was clearing from the west so I hoped to get a great image after the rain of Three Sisters illuminated by the setting sun as it burst from under the clouds. And it did!!
This maybe not everyone's idea of a great landscape photo but I love it and I am pleased that you appreciate it too.
Hello Ian, I just uploaded the photo I made on the same spot. Then you realise how special your photo is for me. I have been in Oz 5 times and in 2003 I rented an old Falcon an did the Birdsville-track, Normanton, Karumba, Borroloola, Top End and the entire westcoast. And in the end I visited Ben Boyd. Yes, I've been around a bit. Austalia is my passion, I tried to immigrate, I write music about the land, got lots of CD's (The cobb&co-song of Lionel Long!!) Unfortunately there is no money now for a trip Downunder.
See ya, Geerten
