Thanks Jim, always trumps with the good advice & links! Hope you didn't think the Highgate images represent my view of christmas!!! although they are quite Dickins in a way! Just that i took these in early December, hopefully post some more optimistic London images early next week!!! Thanks for the vote, really appreciate it! Jim i had a great break as i hope you had! looking forward to seeing you guys great images throughout 2009!

Maybe this is because of these shadows, maybe because of the monochrome but this photo perfectly expresses the atmosphere of cemetery. Well done!

Hi gušterica & Jim,
gušterica, It's a really great overgrown Cemetery, The trees cast really great shadows in good light on the Headstones that seem to emerge from the undergrowth. The Monochrome really brings this out! It's a really great place to visit!
Jim , i'm only really back today! It's good to chill!
Warmest Regards to you both from Dublin h

YS no doubt and my favourite from this series H, I lived in London in the seventies and often wandered through here: this captures those memories perfectly. Superb series...excellent work.
Warm Regards,

I like Martin Hanson's funny comment above, Hugh, very funny!
Your black and white photos are an inspiration to me, and you've transported me to the cemetery, never mind just looking at them on the screen. You really captured the mood so perfectly! I'm so glad I'm in a bright kitchen at the moment and not whiling away the dark hours or I should find them spooky in some cases. The sort of moment when you don't want a branch to start tap tapping on your window!
I love the way you have these stones shining out of the darkness like beacons...fantastic collection, which I'm so enjoying browsing through.
My very best wishes to you,
Sue
ps I hope you don't mind but after looking at some of your black and white beach shots, I did this one with the way you make your shadows so deliciously dark as my inspiration. I wasn't going to mention it, as it has nothing to do with cemeteries, but I thought you'd like to know that you've inspired a novice to try harder.:)
Cheers Hugh, Sue

Hi Sue, Hope your very well! I love that shot you have just posted, I am very honoured if i was any help!!! Hopefully it's what the wonderful galleries across pano are about!
Loved Martin's comment, that sharp welsh Humour!! Also delighted you liked the Highgate pics, The light was really wonderful, Headstones crosses & such just glinted out of the dappled shadows, it really was wonderful for mono! Unfortunately i didn't get across to the west cemetery which is even more Gothic!! excuse the pun!! I might dig up some more shots to add to the set at some stage through the year!!
Great news about Nicks wonderful shot!!
Warmest Regards from Snowy, sleety, Dublin

What a lovely reply, Hugh, thanks so much, just having a nice cup of tea (the ex pom in me, you see) and a read before heading out.
Yes, Nick really deserved that win, it's so beautiful, like a scene from science fiction of a pleasure planet, and yet it's in Gosport, that's what really struck me about it. And those geese, well, Nick's charmed, I think!
You're an inspiration in a big way, with your gorgeous monochromes. I'm so short of time to do my browsing lately, just flying visits. I hope you'll still be about when the kids have grown up say in about 15 years--I might have more time then:D
Very best wishes to you, as always and catch you soon,
Sue
