Well Marilyn, I can safely say that I've never seen this shot before. Is each sphinx protecting a small Pharaoh? Great photos so far, and many more to come I hope.
Splendid, I'm sure you were overjoyed seeing all these magnificent monuments and structures. I've loved visiting your new photos. Regards, Anita
Perfect! A pyramid of statues.
Thanks for your good comments, artwall, Amelia, blai, Anita, and Hank.
Amelia, The ram sphinx represents the god Atun, and each sphinx is holding a "Ramses II" in front of it, associating the king with the god.
Hank, I especially like the "pyramid of statues" description.
A little story: I "saw" this shot on the way out of the temple. A small group was having its picture taken at the end of the row of statues but the light was just right, so I waited. When they were finished, all except one woman moved away. Just then two men came up. One called impatiently to the woman to get out of the way so he could take a picture. What he failed to notice was that he had moved to the space directly in front of me, blocking my picture! I won't say what I think his nationality was (from his accent). I waited until he had finished, and then I took mine.
this is an imposing shot, great angle. It must be awesome just to stand there and see these monuments. Greetings, susan

You might be interested in this, Marilyn, if you're yet to see it. It's a different way of seeing our photos. I used it to see how your photos were scattered all over the globe and it was a surprise to see you've scoured such a variety of places!
Thank you, Alfred and whoelius.
I'd forgotten how to get to the viewer. I think the top section used to include a much smaller number of photos. I'm surprised at the popularity of some of these - not that I think they're bad of course
but how do people ever happen to find them?
I like this photo. Perfect lightening & good choice of the time of the day. The light add mystery to the statues.
