The church stands, on an eminence, and is a fine specimen of Early Norman architecture; it contains a Norman font, some good altar-tombs to the Blount family, and a replica by Bacon of his memorial to Mrs Mason in Bristol Cathedral. In the churchyard is a monument to Miss Frances Eidley Havergal, whose father was rector of this parish.
Hi Peter!Tell me please what is roomed on the upper stories of the church tower?
Most of the tops of the traditional English Church are bell towers. They were used to call the people to worship, or for special events.
All the best Peter
Hi Peter! They are so spacious, especially this one,not like russian orthodox bell towers!I am dreaming to scramble on the top and looking around to the endless english fields and hills and to peep through this lattice window by one eye...Old Good Russian Friend Diggory Venn!
I think that in many Churches there several bells. Many are still rung today by enthusiasts!
Best wishes Peter
