J.-C. et Annecy, qui s'appelait alors Boutae ou Bautas, fut une bourgade industrieuse à l'époque romaine (50 av. J.-C.). The Old Prisons or Palais de l'Isle is a fortified house located in the old town of Annecy in the Haute-Savoie. This monument built in the eleventh century had very many functions during its history. It housed the first toll Thiou, then hosted a workshop monnétaire the fourteenth century and used as a prison until the French Revolution. Roger.
