I can't really complain about the hotel - The service was good and the atmosphere around very unique (though the rooms were nothing special, but the view over Taipei was good :-) ).
Sure - there might be better hotels in Taipei now, and I can't compare the Grand Hotel to earlier times, especially since the hotel burned down in the 90s and was rebuilt.
But to come to a conclusion - I don't regret having spent my time there; whether I come back - don't know; it's a little bit far away from downtown (but the metro connection at Shilin is quite quick).
Kind regards, boerx.
