Just about to have a cup of coffee and a couple of chocolate biscuits dear Hazel ...... Carry on the good work ;-)

Hazel Coetzee on September 1, 2009

Damn!! Chocolate bikkies, hey?? (Damn Damn Damn.... mutter mutter)

Oh well, perseverance is the name of the game - I'll get to look like Sophia Loren's pet poodle one of these days.... but I'll leave the Sophia Loren bit to you. Okay? (((;

Cheers, Hazel (off to buy some groceries & Diet Chockie Bikkies)

1949!! Can't believe it, Amelia That's two years before I was born. You're keeping up very well, I must say! :))))

What an energetic stride Amelia no wonder you have succeeded so well :))) Dear Hazel such comments brighten any dreary winters day :)) Warm greetings to the two of you who make the world a better richer place :) Peter

Hello Per, and tell me what time you went to bed? What about the beauty sleep? I'm not quite sure of the year that this was taken so it's a bit of guesswork, but we moved from here in St.Andrews to Hampshire in 1953 when I was just coming up to 12. So this could have been taken about 1950 or even '51, but no later. At any rate, I can give you 10 years :))

I was eager to get into the sea dear Peter, so striding was what I did. You can see, by what they are wearing, that my Mum and Dad didn't seem to think that it was swimming weather, and yes in retrospect, they were correct :))

Hazel and I spent a bit of time reminiscing here - great fun :)

yes the prerogative of parents :) Have a nice day Amelia no time for a swim for me :)) I met a colleague yesterday who told me he had started the day with a swim :)) hat off for that,,,Varme hilsner, Peter

We've been having temperatures of -13C here in Shropshire over the past 10 days or so! It has been really cold - and I would not like to go swimming anywhere except in a large hot tub :))

Nick Weall on October 5, 2011

So you ended up taller than your Mother and your Daughter taller than you ~ in time your descendants will be female giants ~ :) You are a bonnie wee lassie here :) x

Amelia Royan on October 5, 2011

Not too difficult to be taller than my Mum - she was 4'10. 2 of my daughters are taller than I am, the other is exactly at the same dizzying height of 5'1. Out of the 5 grandchildren 3 are taller than I am at the moment :))

A fabulous picture Amelia. On Nick's comment, I am 5'4 and my daughters are 5' and 5'7! I love these 1950's and older photo's. I'm pleased there are more on Pano'

All the best, Rosa.

Haven't changed much have I dear Rosa? Still very late with replies! :)))

I was 8 at the time. A hardy wee Scot going swimming in an outdoor tidal bathing pool, which is now a sea-life centre. You can tell how cold it was by what Mum is wearing.

Cheers, Amelia

Lovely photograph, Amelia. I certainly recognize the location! Cheers, Joe

I was on my way to the Step Rock bathing pool - now the sea-life centre, Joe. It doesn't look too warm does it? LOL

I photographed this scene the other day, Amelia. That big wide pavement and the grass verge have been replaced with a wee narrow pavement. It is very pedestrian friendly in your photograph. Nowadays it is all about cars! Cheers, Joe
