Greetings every one, this view of the country-side near my home is located in the beautiful ESK VALLEY. Like so many of the the famous dales and vales in Yorkshire they were created by the grinding action of glacial activity over thousands of years. Farming and careful management over a similar period of time has produced fertile, well drained land!!

Thanks for stopping by and for all your warm wishes.

I came by to see what lovely new photos you've posted, Jim and to get a little fix of snow.

This image is both simple and complex. I love it.

Happy New Year, dear Jim, and plentiful oceanfaring for you.

AXOTA, on January 2, 2009, said:

Hi Mary and Guy, I'm glad that you both dropped in.

To be honest, all the snow melted away before Christmas. It never lays for long these days, not like the winters of my youth some 60 years ago. We could be certain of having sufficient snow for at least a couple of weeks sledging, and the town was frequently isolated, often for days on end, due to massive snow drifts. The kids of today will be lucky to see this phenomena in their lifetime. The change in our weather patterns has altered dramatically, much more unpredictable, much more volatile and the accelerating pace of change is very worrying. I'm not a doomsday merchant but only speak as I find !! Try to think positively ;>}}

Best wishes to you both.----------------Jim
