When Hurricane Katrina flooded its radio shack up to a level of about 6 feet, this tower, owned by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, survived. However, a rare F3 tornado toppled it on February 2, 2006. The site has been cleared and a new tower erected on the eastern edge of the parking lot. State Police Troop "B" had moved to Kenner, LA. about 10 years before the storm. The other building on the site was a DMV office before Katrina.
