If this home is located on the corner or 3rd and Camp St. I believe that it was the home of General John Bell Hood and his wife Anne Marie Hennan Hood. Gen. John Bell Hood served under Lee in the civil war. I believe the home was purchased after their death in 1879 from yellow fever by a gentleman by the name of Thomas Purvis.
Any information that you might know that this might might be in the house? It was still standing in 2003 and the arch looks like it could be, but I am not sure what might have happened in the area during Hurricane Katrina.
This was my cousins house up until earlier this year. The house withstood Katrina very well. Luckily, only a few shingles were lost from the roof. Her husband stayed and rode out the storm in the house. An absolutely gorgeous home inside. As of fall of 2009, the home was purchased by Sandra Bullock. Lots of memories in that home. Great picture.
