This pair spent a summer with us. Unfortunately a hunter took one shot at some geese nearby and that was the last of their time on our property as it spoked them. They have a loud, very distinctive call that alerts you to their presence from a mile away. They are newly re-introduced to the wild in our area the last few years. Before I only saw them in Baraboo in the International Crane Center. They are huge birds.

Yes, I love this shot as these birds spent the summer with us several summers ago. But this was long before the SX10 IS. I can't remember for sure as it is scanned in but probably the Canon Rebel with film & a Tamron 80-205 lens. But under the same circumstances the SX10 might have been better.
