This is one of the bike trail overpasses. A proposed widening of I-66 inside the Beltway, opposed by many and in violation of some original understandings with Arlington may destroy the bike path that connects the Blue Ridge at Purcelville (W&OD Trail) with the trail into the city and on to Mt. Vernon. The widening is being pushed by commuter and developer interest in the far outer suburbs. I personally think it is insane as this is traffic badly needing diversion to improved mass transit rather than another attempt to pave our way out of jams. All recent examples show that such efforts just increase traffic and the jams.
