Hallo David! I must laugh, this photo is so nice! Greetings from Austria Roswitha

Stetschnig, they are like that everyday. This wharf / pier is full of tourists. It is in Santa Cruz (same town as my contest photo). I took this photo one hour before my contest photo. David My contest - "CALIFORNIA DREAMING"

Oh they love it!

davidcmc58 on February 28, 2009

Makis and Farmbrough, thank you for your visit and kind words. Visitors to the Santa Cruz municipal wharf can see these guys on the regular basis. They are cute and friendly but can be smelly sometimes. Regards, David

outstanding composition. just right.

davidcmc58 on July 13, 2009

pb ft, these animal shots involve luck. One just has to have the camera ready when it happens. That's why half of my shots are done with my point and shoot although I do have an SLR. Thank you so much for your very kind words and best regards to you! David

my friends call me 'leadfoot', by the way. [okay, 'friend'.] my right foot seems to be a cop-finder. i should change my name to pbft. i think i'll do that.

retired coaching legend darrell royal said luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. i might add 'with the vision to know what should be done and the skill to pull it off'.

Hi leadfoot my friend. You have been very kind. Your nice comments will encourage me to try even harder in photography. I joined Panoramio in Feb. 2008, not so new and not too old. I have learned so much in the critique forum since about fall of last year (I probably posted more photos for critiquing than anyone else). There are plenty of nice folks and good photographers in the community. Regards, David

very good to hear. you have a great deal of talent, and i am very pleased that you take it so seriously. actually, you didn't have to tell me. your pics already did.

i certainly agree that there are lots of nice folks here. and people who really do know what they are doing. i am somewhat awed. it will take me a while to get comfortable.

thanks for your friendship. it really matters.

another thing. i saw that some people have tag pics, and that seems like a good idea. so i made one but i'm not sure that it works. would you check it out?

thanks.

davidcmc58 on July 14, 2009

Leadfoot, your tag photo works perfectly. I am just too lazy to do it as Panoramio is supposed to fix the problem soon. Now with you "tags" working I will check out more of your photos. Ciao, David

thanks much. here's hoping they get it fixed, but it was fun (and enlightening) to make one.

Joe, they are quite famous all right. You can see them, hear them and sometimes SMELL them! Cheers, David
