Yes, it is a ghost town. It was established for gold mining in the 1880's and later was a big railroad town. Both closed down in the 1920's and it dwindled down to a few residents from one family. The building in the foreground was the Stark Home Comfort Inn. Today there are 8 residents and it is considered one of CO best preserved ghost towns. The day we were there it was indeed a ghost town with no tourist in site and only a couple of locals at the general store.
