Horn Pond again, so good to you, great photo, just a little different with the steps (I gather) down to the water all covered in snow. Dianne

Hi Dianne - hope you really appreciate your January's now! Yup - you got the view.

Cool. I see some little ice gardens down at the bottom, and a couple footprints on the steps, and where the nice lighting for the other picture came from. Was it taken down there?

Bits-n-Pieces on January 4, 2009

Thanks Guy - well, the rippled ice edge was near by - somewhat to the left. The edge of the lake is rather strange - I think it used to be more of a public beach that's been allowed to grow over since swimming isn't really allowed. But then the level of the lake fluctuates - so there's a level area that's somewhat weedy, sometimes inundated. Perfect for geese and ducks!

Beautiful light and composition. Happy New Year.

Just noticed, the thumb looks like train tracks heading towards some mountains which the sun is setting on.

Yes, I thought that too, I was surprised to see this other image appear! Well done, there!

Thanks Don, miguel, guy, dianne and jean. So funny, Guy. I guess I know what I was looking at too well, so its sort of hard for me to see, but, yeah, sort of looks like some heavy acrylic painting of a road or tracks into the sun over the mountains. But I guess if I look at it that way, it seems more like looking up the steps up a ziggurat!

This is really quite a mind bender of a shot Bits-n-Pe...?Not again.. Looking at the image my mind is telling me that I'm looking up the stairs at the ice & water. I'm giving it a yellow star because it is a wonderful shot and so that I can keep coming back to it to figure it out. And I will.

Totally thought it was train tracks and then a boat launch when i read the title but probably no boating on Horn Pond right???? Great shot. Zoe

Nawitka on January 20, 2009

Hmm. Nope. Not going in. Cool shot though!

Bits-n-Pieces on January 27, 2009

Thanks Conrad, Zoe, and Nawitka (and well, I did thank you all last week, but seems my comment didn't stick!) aaah, back in the Warm days before the lake was covered in about a foot of snow....No motor boats allowed, but lots of Ice Fishing these days!
