Sorry, you photoshopped too much or indeed took it from a catalogue! I've been there two years ago and know that the water in Saturnia is milky blue and not like this here. The EXIF-data show what kind of photographer you are ...

Thank you pano for your comment! Photo treatment settings are mostly a matter of taste. Even though this pic, despite what you think, is rather natural looking (I didn't change any hue or color whatsoever, just worked a bit on the contrast). As you can see, my style is generally well appreciated and praised, but whatever your style is, you'll always find a few detractors ("One cannot be liked by everybody!"). Whithin a few years I've been on Panoramio, you're only the second one! You have the right not to like my work, but I don't think you're using a very constructive way of expressing it, and, without open and constructive intentions, I don't see the interest of commenting...

Hi wx, As to my "way of expressing it", I apologize. My English is not very good and at the moment of writing my comment I did not find the right words. At that moment I had not seen your other fotos where some are indeed very nice. As far as this foto here is concerned, I have the impression that it has been worked on massively. Not only are the colours quite unnatural, but also sharpness is so even in every part of the picture that it cannot be real in my opinion. If this sharpness is real, then your Fuji F100 is astonishingly good! Finally, about taste: I have seen that you have other wonderful fotos that I like very much. This one I don't love, for me it's too "kitschig". Kind Regards

Thank you panoramawolle for your comment. I'm surprised you find THIS picture like it had been "massively worked on", because it definitely has not! My Fuji F100 indeed gives crispy images that don't need much sharpening. It also gives pretty saturated colors when set on "landscape". This image nevertheless looks pretty close to what I saw when I was there.

Anyway, for me, the interesting thing in photography is not to be "realistic", but rather to propose my own interpretation of reality. This is why I love working on my shots, I want them to reflect the emotions I had when shooting, instead of some realistic/objective vision that no camera will ever be able to render anyway!

I have absolutely no fear of "kitsch", for me, this is no criteria of quality: "kitsch" can be excellent or cheap, like any other pictorial style. But I just don't ask myself such questions, as my only goal is to be sincere with myself and my emotional side, whatever style it may put me in, I just don't care the least about that! Regards, wx

Hi wx, thanks for your explanations. As a last response: I can respect your intentions as far as your emotions are concerned, but for me Panoramio is not the place to indulge one's artistic passion - there are fotoforums enough - but a place with fotos of the world as it is. Hi panoramawolle, thank you for giving me your opinion about what Panoramio should be, because I find the debate interesting! You're right, on that point, we indeed desagree! For me, on Panoramio, there is room for everybody's style, be it "realistic" or "artistic", or both. Besides, to see "the world as it is", the only way is to actually be "there". A photo, as a media, can only be a transcription of reality. Knowing this, I prefer to give it my own and personnal transcription than just my camera's one. Moreover, I'm often more attracted to a place when I find it magnified by a beautiful photo treatment, be it very light. Just a matter of taste... Regards, wx
