I took this photograph as the White Pass train was trundling slowly up the mountain. I think that what caught my attention was the fact that these abandoned mines had been like this for round about a hundred years. I just wonder at the desperation that must have gripped these men to stand on what is practically a sheer face and dig tunnels looking for gold.
