Brownhills town centre seems currently to be stuck inexorably in decline. Despite a new branch of Wilkinson opening here, the number of empty retail units continues to rise, as does the quantity and variety of charity shops and fast food outlets.
There's talk of a new development which seems to have been accepted unquestioningly by our representatives without any plans yet being submitted to the planning department... this is coincidental with the demise of the market, which also seems to have been accepted as inevitable.
One can only hope that everything goes to plan - sites such as the now nearly deserted Ravens Court are not welcoming, and without a market to draw visitors in the remaining businesses face a tough time.
