Location: Our Lady of Remedies, Cuelim
(Also known as Three Kings Church)
Photographed on: 14-Oct-2007 using Canon Powershot S3
You are assured of great views from this hill top on which the "Our Lady of Remedies" church is located.
On the 12th day after Christmas (around 6th Jan) this spot comes alive with the celebration of the Three Kings Feast (Feast of Epiphany).
The Feast of Epiphany commemorates the arrival of the Magi to Bethlehem to greet the baby Jesus. In Goa it commemorated with as close a re-enactment as possible.
The feast is celebrated in three villages of Goa - Chandor, Cansaulim and Verem. On the day of the feast, three boys - grandsons from the neighbouring villages of Cansaulim, Cuelim and Arrosim ascend the hillock of Cuelim and participate in the mass held here.
As happens with all village feasts in Goa, a fair installs itself outside the church and later in the evening there is a dance held here.
