Thank you Peter. This old boat is just asking to be turned into a watercolour painting! I have taken pictures of it from every angle! Thank you for the Y* - so kind of you. Warm wishes, Hazel, Cape Town

Steve - another visitor and I were taking it in turns to capture this old boat. She is also planning to paint her version of it. It was just asking to be photographed in all its weatherbeaten glory!!

Greetings Hazel ;>)
What is it it about old boats that holds our fascination? but they do for sure!! Like old cars, steam engines, vintage aircraft, old tractors, sepia photos!! the list is endless! Perhaps it is the romantic notion that things were somehow better..Nostalgia plays a big part!!
So maybe for all those reasons I find myself here admiring this relic from the past ;>)
Ironically, the hull is now in far greater danger than it would have been just left in the water!! The drying atmosphere will shrink the timbers, dry out the floors and frames, loosen the nails and eventually it will simply fall apart. It will, however, remain a good subject for the camera lens!!
Lovely image Hazel ;>)
You have a fine gallery here!
Kind regards ;>)

Hi there Jim - thanks a lot for your visit - nice to meet you!! And I had to chuckle when I read your very interesting comments: you are so right about vintage and I think it probably is nostalgia that strikes a cord in us.
Quite by chance, there were two of us pottering around this old hulk with our cameras - both interested in the artistic effects that time and weather had wrought on the wooden hull, while two patient husbands hovered in the background. I am wondering now if my "companion" was also a Panoramio-fan...? Maybe there's another similar boat somewhere in Pano's VAST collection...?
Thank you for your great comments, I do appreciate both your visit and your compliments.
Warm greetings, Hazel-in-a-glow
