The old town straddles the slope of the Esk valley and the prospect is one of tightly packed buildings of every colour and description, huddled together, others viewing for position, some stretching their timbers skyward. There is a chaotic and disorganised feel about the place, and nowhere better is the river, to see the appeal of the town.
Gabriel, many thanks for your encouraging comments and New Year greetings ;>)
Urbi- You know, I so much appreciate your visit and friendly good humour. Greetings for you also :>)
Gabe- I made the mistake of uploading too many at one go. My typing speed, and we are talking Molusc here, is so bad that my output is greatly exceeded by the input of mail. That is why it takes me a lifetime to respond!! I should not complain, I am delighted to receive comment ;>)
Amelia-Ah! now there is a problem that I leave only to your imagination. I have lost count of the number of Chippies but it is in excess of 30, and that is one helluva stink!!
Anna-Have you decided yet which is the boat of your choice? remember our sailing adventure, into the sun ;>))
Guy, I must admit to having bumped a good few comments in my time, a bad habit which I shall rectify in the near future ;>)) Your comments are appreciated bud.
I've really enjoyed your visit guys, thanks for dropping in ;>)
Well gezginruh, I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit and that you added my gallery to your own. I can tell you that it is an honour for me, that you spared the time to stay a while.
JAZZ, I am delighted to share this with you my friend, the Y* means so much to me ;>)
johngregson, I raised an eyebrow there john when I saw that name, which seems familiar to me. I personally knew many of the Whitby skippers around that time, but not Joe :>)
I regard myself as a "Whitbyite" having lived and worked here most of my life, apart from a 20 year spell when my work took me to Stockton on Tees during the early seventies!
My mother ran pubs in Whitby for many years, The Black Swan, also the Buck Hotel, both frequented by many fishermen back in those days. Its oh so different now!!
Joes Boat Was called the Sarah Michelle I think he sold it to a Paul

Best regards.
How good to see you Victor, it is always a pleasure to know that you called in.
Of all the natural environments, the sea, the oceans and all that they contain, are surely the most awesome and desirable places to be near.
You and I share a great affection for this amazing place. Long may that be the case.
Kind regards Victor ;>)
Jim
Η θάλασσα θεραπεύει όλες τις ασθένειες της ανθρωπότητας.
Never was there a more true phrase Jim and Victor.
Greetings to you both, Amelia
Thanks so much for dropping in Amelia.
I have a feeling that the text is old Nordic/ Gaelic/ Inuit, and most certainly not Greek, Whatever, I would like to know what it means ;>)
Warm regards ;>)
Jim
Axota, it is 100 % greek and almost 100% true!
