As soon as our canals and lakes are frozen over, we Dutch folks take a dive in our storage to find our skates. Virtually everybody goes iceskating. A nationwide tradition. This photo has been shot at the Veluwemeer. This is a very undeep lake (about 50-80cm deep), so skating is quite safe.
