Sunrise in Antarctica. The scenic Lemaire Channel between Booth Island and the Antarctic Peninsula is glowing with golden orange colors in the early morning light. This narrow strait is considered one of the highlights in any cruise going to Antarctica.

Good and clever comment about promoting contest pictures! There is a very narrow path between legitime promotion of one's pictures and spamming. Thank you for noticing that and staying on the good side.

The January 2009 Panoramio contest is over.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your visit and comments and votes.

Especially thanks to ka9894 for being the first person to comment on all my 5 contest photos.

In the process of promoting my photos in the contest I have commented on 1000’s of photos, and I have seen and evaluated many more photos. It was really fun and interesting to see so many photos from all over the world.

I apologize to those who got annoyed with my promotion (or spam as some people rightfully will call it).

Advise to future contest participants:

Only leave a promoting comment to those photos that are also in the contest.

Tag your contest photos with “contest” or something like that, so that it is easy for people to find your contest photos when they are visiting your gallery.

Write something meaningful. Do NOT leave a standard message.

Thanks again everyone. Allan LichtenHansen, Denmark.
