Shahid Buddhijibi Smriti Shoudha:On the night of 14 December, 1971, over 200 of Bangladesh(the then East Pakistan)'s intellectuals including professors, journalists, doctors, artists, engineers, and writers were abducted by the 'Al-Badar Bahini'from their homes in Dhaka. They were taken blindfolded to torture cells and were executed en masse, most notably at Rayerbazar.The Pakistani Army and the Razakars & Al-Badars killed thousands of intellectuals at different parts of Bangladesh during the liberation war. In memory of the martyred intellectuals, a memorial is made at the site of killing and a monument(this one) is made at Mirpur. The Intellectual Martyrs Monument of Mirpur Dhaka was designed by Ar. Mustafa Harun Quddus alias Hali Mustafa, who was graduated from Architecture Dept. BUET in 1971 and died on 26th October 2000.
