Wow! Not only is this an odd looking shot, it's really neat, too. Great job spotting him and catching the scene.

I like how we're all out at some of the same times in different places, all looking for something interesting to shoot.

I think this is one photo where the smog actually helped the photo quite a bit (hiding civilization in the background).

Is the lake frozen over? I thought this was on the salt flats, but I see I was wrong.

Yes. The lake was frozen over (which suprised me too). This eagle was standing off on the ice, watching a bunch of ducks in a portion of the lake where there was no ice. It was pretty fun to watch. The ducks kept flying up & landing again. The eagle got up & flew a short distance around the nearby marina & landed close to it's original spot.
