This location was featured in an 70's Italian / Spanish zombie horror movie known in the UK as The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue.
It was supposed to be actually set in the Lake District but the budget dictated otherwise. In the movie the church is supposed to be located at the bottom of Winnats Pass near Castleton!
It is at the church where we see the lead characters in the film become trapped in a crypt with multiple zombies and also where the simpleton police officer get eaten alive in the graveyard! And you thought nothing interesting ever happened in Hathersage!
