Is this a baby Volcano??
They are Eolie's volcanic islands, just west north than Sicily, near Calabria, in the Messina's Channel...They are wonderful islands...and this is Tomas's version of my shot (the second of my gallery)...:)
Thanks for the explantion Valeria it is very helpful ~ I think that Tomas is trying to make the shot more visually interesting and the cropped version gives more emphasis to the trail of vapour or smoke from the active Volcano ~ there is a dreamy quality to this shot, but it would also be interesting to see a clearer view, so you'll have to get into a little aeroplane and try again some time :)))
It would be nice Nick! I have never been in these islands but I know that in a town not far from my grandmother's town ferry boats leave the port towards Eolie's Islands...there are two kinds of journey: one lasts only a day and then you can visit 2 or 3 islands, the other lasts an entire week-end and you have the chance to visit and see more islands (as in a little cruise)
I have to try something like this, as soon as possible...maybe in summer!:)
It is only now that I look at the map in small scale to see that these little islands are right down by what wew call the "toe" of Italy and then you are so near to Scilia as well ~ where you could spend another two weeks soaking up history
Yes Nick they are in a wonderful place: near the toe of Italy -that is Calabria-, not far from Messina's Channel -where there were Scilla and Cariddi of Odissea- and right in front of Sicily...:) I have to go there absolutely, they are so near my grandmother's town!
Jason and the argonauts and all that stuff ~ great
You know lots of mythological histories, Nick - I think that you would have been a great Greek Literature and Poetry professor...:))
Not really Artemis just little bits here and there and then google helps my memory now and then too you should know ~ I did read quite a few books on the subject when a late teenager and early twenties sort of chap
That is a not common passion indeed - and I am glad that we and Eleni share it all together...:))It is nice you read some books, I always think I have no time to read as many books as I would like...
Try to find and listen to a piece of music by the Finnish composer: Jean Sibelius ~ entitled : Pelleas and Meslisande
Sure, I will search it...I am sure I will like it!
Goodnight my friend!!! See you tomorrow!!!
