You visited Antelope Canyon! This is something I'd love to do if I can get the time to break away. A photographic challenge for sure. Beautiful.

Thank you for the comments, Shuttereye. I loved Antelope Canyon, one room would be reds and coppers and the next turn would have golden light shinning down making the walls glow. I just bought a new Canon Rebel XSI so hopefully I can take some good shots. Also, thanks for the correction on Mt. Rainier. All this time I thought I was flying over St. Helens. Sharon

Well, Sharon, I'm glad I could help. I also made a suggestion of the correct view position based on the southbound departure path from SEATAC toward Southern California, a route I fly often, as you might guess from my posts.

I heard that special advance arrangements are necessary for access to Antelope Canyon. How did you go about it?

~~West Coast Sharon~… on January 31, 2009

No special arrangements needed for the upper Antelope Canyon. You just have to pay and be transported back in some very old trucks, quite the adventure. The area where you have to put your name in for a sort of lottery is a place very near by in southern Utah called "The Wave" Look for it in the tags area and you will be amazed. They only allow 10 persons per day, I think. I didn't get picked -- maybe next time.

Wow! I just googled utah the wave, and the first hit was http://www.pbase.com/devonshire/wave

Amazing stuff. I really need to plan a trip to the area one of these days.

Thank you for your very nice comments. I never really thought about it but you are right -- it does look like a kangaroo. This was an amazing place on this earth and I could go back over and over. By the way, these colors were the actual colors. Seemed like I would go around a corner to another area and the light would shine down and be either red, purple, or golden. Best to you and have a wonderful week. Sharon
